Psalm 48, great is the Lord and most worthy of praise. In the city of our God in His holy mountain; beautiful in its loftiness is the joy of the whole earth. Like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion the city of the great King. God is in her citadels; He has shown Himself to be her fortress. When the kings or the opposition join forces and they advanced together they gazed upon the beauty of the house of God. They saw her, they were astounded, and they fled in terror; trembling seized them there; pain like that of a woman in labour. You destroyed them like the ships of Tarshish – shattered by an east wind. The forces of the enemy shattered because of the beauty, because of the sight of the order God; the reality of God in the midst of His people. As we have heard, so have we seen in the City of God, in the City of our God. God makes her secure forever. Within Your temple O God, we meditate on Your unfailing love. Like Your name O God, Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices. The villages are glad because of Your judgments. So walk around Zion; go around her. Count all her towers. Consider her ramparts. Vier her citadels. Look at her architecture. Look at the structure of the kingdom of God built into the powerful human lives that You may tell them to the next generation. For this God is our God forever and ever and He will be our guide right unto the end, right to the Finish. He will guide us step by step right to the end of His divine purpose as we go forward.
